Art Work Rubric
Shoe Drawing
Shoes are a valuable subject for an artist to develop and improve drawing skills. Students will draw a shoe or pair of shoes from life, observed in three dimensional space. The form, structure and texture of shoes provide the artist with challenging visual information to observe and record. The activity also reveals decisions made by the artist to position and compose the shoe(s) in a visually interesting way. Activity (2-4 hours)
Objectives
To demonstrate effective technical use of tools and materials
To create a convincing illusion of 3D form translated onto a 2D surface
To successfully use line, shape, texture and value to render shoes in visually dynamic manner.
Self-Portrait
Self-portraiture is a natural and insightful subject for the young artist. Historically, artists have used their head, neck and shoulders to study and practice anatomy, facial expression and proportion. The self-portrait drawing is an opportunity to be introspective. It is an exercise the learning artist should return to often as they develop their representational skills. Activity (2-4 hours)
Objectives
To demonstrate effective technical use of tools and materials
To create a convincing illusion of 3D form translated onto a 2D surface
To successfully use line, shape, texture and value to render portrait in visually dynamic manner.
Interior Space
Select an interior space to draw. This could be a room in your home or a hallway at school. Observe where you are in relation to the walls, floor and ceiling of the space. Situate yourself in a comfortable location to draw these features as well as any furniture, appliances, objects, people etc. Activity (2-4 hours)
Objectives:
To demonstrate effective technical use of tools and materials
To create a convincing illusion of 3D space translated onto a 2D surface
To successfully use line, shape, texture and value to render a space in visually dynamic manner.
